Lyrics of The Poet
As I was searching for my dream
So many times today
The last one I can remember
The rain had washed away
I went walking
that evening
My thoughts were on my day
And how my castles were destroyed
Like they were made of clay
I could hear a tiny voice calling me
>From
behind a garden wall
When out came this strange little man
Who was not
even three feet tall
I know you are looking for someone he said
To
tell your troubles to
I would be happy to lend an ear
And see what I can
do
But first, let me tell you something
I'm sure you didn't know it
Though my friends all call me shorty
They know, they know I'm a poet
Enough about me he said, this is about you
Let's work together as a team and
discover what is true
The secret is to take life slow
To help you find
your dream
Then, in a flash, he had taken me back fifty years
Just to
help me see
The fifty years that I had already spent
Were once again in
front of me
A rare gift you have been granted my friend
By now I'm
sure you know
To live those years over again
And take life really really
slow, oh so slow.
As I watched anthills become mountains, mountains oh so
tall
I saw a single drop of rain become a majestic waterfall
I've seen
a single grain of sand
Become a desert so hot and so dry
And one small
seed become
A million acres of wheat growing proud and high
And just
one egg, one lonely egg
Are now all the birds in the sky
and they're
flying high
Many are the times I've thanked the poet
For the secret he
let me know
While watching acorns falling to the ground
I'll stay and
watch them grow
Watch them grow
