Lyrics of My invitation to the blues
I once thought "I have it all"
and "There's no
way I can lose"
When suddenly without warning
Was my invitation to the
blues
People that I know
Would not talk to me no more
When they saw
me come around
They would go and lock the door
I picked up a newspaper
To catch up on the news
Like a slap on my head
The headlines read
Welcome to, you got it, the blues
I checked my mail box this morning
and the bills all came in two's
Then I read a nasty letter that said
I
better pay my union dues
Now way in the back was an envelope in black
Ya know by now I had a clue
Sure enough when I opened it up
There it was
my invitation to the blues
I once thought "I have it all figured out"
There was no way I could ever lose
When suddenly without warning
Was my
invitation to the blues
I blew up and yelled "enough is enough"
"I
can't take this stuff" "I won't take it nomore"
Happiness is meant for every
gender
I sealed it back in the envelope
And as calm as I can remember
I took my pen and wrote across the top
Please "Return To Sender"
I can
hear a voice that says make the choice
Choose happiness each and every day
And may good things come your way
Until the blues finally surrender
Surrender and go away
