I had known him forever
Yet he was a stranger
He hardly ever spoke
I tried hard to show him
I would like to better know him
He just smiled and said please leave me alone

Nothing can free him
He lives outside of the box
He's a loner
A genuine misnomer
His wit is quick as a fox

I tried to get in his mind
But I could not find
The key to open the door
Then when his silence broke
He asked as he spoke
What are you even trying for?

He once knew a lady
Her name was Katie
He loved her so and needed her so
But she said "I'm sorry" you are too much of a story
And told him he had to go

He cried out "You are all I've ever needed"
As he pleaded and pleaded
Please don't let me go
But deep down inside
He had already died
And he tried hard not to let it show

He's a loner
A true misnomer
Even though his eyes are open wide
You will know when you see him
And why no one can free him
Deep down he has already died
